abstract = "O aumento continuado nos pre{\c{c}}os do petr{\'o}leo e as
crescentes preocupa{\c{c}}{\~o}es ambientais t{\^e}m elevado o
interesse pela utiliza{\c{c}}{\~a}o de biocombust{\'{\i}}veis,
em especial o etanol e o biodiesel. Biocombust{\'{\i}}veis puros
e misturas destes com a gasolina e o diesel t{\^e}m sido
empregados principalmente em motores de combust{\~a}o interna
para ve{\'{\i}}culos. Por outro lado, a legisla{\c{c}}{\~a}o
ambiental tem se tornado cada vez mais rigorosa, estabelecendo
limites r{\'{\i}}gidos para as emiss{\~o}es de poluentes em
motores, turbinas, fornos, caldeiras e processos de combust{\~a}o
industriais. Conseq{\"u}entemente, {\'e} de interesse do
pa{\'{\i}}s e das empresas investigar a utiliza{\c{c}}{\~a}o
dos biocombust{\'{\i}}veis em aplica{\c{c}}{\~o}es
industriais, visando reduzir custos, aumentar a efici{\^e}ncia de
opera{\c{c}}{\~o}es e reduzir a emiss{\~a}o de poluentes. O
objetivo deste trabalho {\'e} realizar um estudo
te{\'o}rico-experimental de injetores centr{\'{\i}}fugos duais
para atomiza{\c{c}}{\~a}o de biocombust{\'{\i}}veis. Um
prot{\'o}tipo de um injetor centr{\'{\i}}fugo dual foi
constru{\'{\i}}do para realiza{\c{c}}{\~a}o de testes
comparativos com inje{\c{c}}{\~a}o de {\'a}gua destilada,
etanol hidratado e biodiesel de soja B100. Foram obtidas as
caracter{\'{\i}}sticas de atomiza{\c{c}}{\~a}o em uma bancada
de testes especialmente desenvolvida para esta pesquisa. Foram
determinados os coeficientes de descarga, os di{\^a}metros
m{\'e}dios das gotas, as distribui{\c{c}}{\~o}es de
di{\^a}metros de gotas, os {\^a}ngulos de cone do
\textit{spray}, as distribui{\c{c}}{\~o}es da massa do
\textit{spray} e os efeitos das press{\~o}es de
opera{\c{c}}{\~a}o e das vaz{\~o}es m{\'a}ssicas dos
biocombust{\'{\i}}veis sobre o desempenho do injetor. ABSTRACT:
The continuous rise in oil prices and the growth in environmental
concerns have raised the interest for the use of biofuels,
especially ethanol and biodiesel. Pure biofuels and blends of them
with gasoline and diesel have been used primarily in internal
combustion engines for vehicles. On the other hand, environmental
legislation has become more stringent, establishing limits for
pollutant emissions in engines, turbines, furnaces, boilers and
industrial combustion processes. Therefore, it is of interest to
the country and companies to investigate the use of biofuels in
industrial applications, aiming to reduce costs, increase
efficiency of operations and reduce the emission of pollutants.
The objective of this work is to perform a theoretical and
experimental study of a dual pressure swirl injector for
atomization of biofuels. An injector prototype was built for
comparative testing with distillate water, hydrated ethanol and
B100 soy biodiesel. The atomization characteristics of the
injector were obtained in a test bench specially developed for
this research. The discharge coefficients, the average droplet
diameters, the distribution of droplet sizes, the spray cone
angles, the spray mass distributions, and the effects of operating
pressures and mass flow rates of biofuels on the performance of
the injector were determined.",
